BEHIND THE SCENES

The KidSingers' afterschool program provides youth ages 8 - 18 with a dynamic choral music education and performance program that extraordinarily produces seven live concerts each year. Not only does KidSingers teach kids how to sing, dance, and perform, but it also inculcates self-esteem and confidence. For 27 years KidSingers has provided this uniquely distinctive award-winning program and continues to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration to thousands of kids, offering to them a brighter and more joyful future.

The program’s 9-month season spans the months of September through May with performances in the summer as well. KidSingers perform at diverse venues including Disneyland, Angel Stadium (where they sing the National Anthem at the start of the baseball game), Nixon Library, and Plotkin Gallery to name a few. KidSingers is comprised of five age-appropriate choruses, each provided with a music director and piano accompanist. They rehearse simultaneously every Tuesday afternoon from 3:45 pm – 7:00 pm.

Though the program cost for one youth per year is $2,500, under our Adopt-A-KidSinger program, families qualify for a modest yearly processing fee of $75 for one, $125 for two, and $150 for three kids in the same family. No one is turned away for lack of funds.

Our annual Wine Pairing, Benefit, Foundation, corporate grants, and private donations, all contribute to funding the program. Supporters include the Annenberg Foundation, Enterprise Bank & Trust, Griswold Industries, Orange County Community Foundation, Angels Baseball Foundation, and the Nellie Leaman Taft Foundation, to name a few.

KidSingers program evaluations have documented positive program outcomes which include 87% of KidSingers experience increases in performance skills, self-esteem, confidence, language skills, teamwork, and abilities to manage the isolation and stress encountered by social media. These evaluations have also found that teachers and parents have seen significant improvement in their children’s academics, music performance, social skills, and family unity.

The KidSingers' program inherently instills qualities of respect, trustworthiness, fairness, responsibility, and good citizenship within every youth who participates.

KidSingers awards scholarships to worthy students in grades 9 – 12. Recipient students designate these funds to go to the college or vocational school of their choice upon graduation from High School. Since 2002 the program has awarded more than $160,000 in scholarships.

Long-range program expansion includes further music and vocal classes, and tutoring and mentoring classes.
